Quick and Easy

I did it! I finished my Pansy’s! I am so glad it is over, not sure what I will do with it, like so many of my projects I never know what to do with them. I have few friends and family and alot of people in their twenty’s don’t want cross-stitching in their home.

I finished that Wednesday, then I went on the hunt for something else to start. I wanted something simple and easy after dealing with this stupid thing for so long! I decided to do up the kit I received in my “The World of Cross Stitching” magazine last month.  They were easy and a nice change to actually count again! I must say I prefer counting to a stamped pattern.

They are cute little cards that I can use and they look nice to actually be finished. So now I am on a hunt for a new project. I am not sure if I want to buy a new kit or do something from one of my many magazines. Whatever I decide I need to go out and look for something, I don’t have any aida left so I will need to buy supplies no matter what.

Which do you prefer, kits or doing something yourself?

Back to this…

Wow, it’s been a very long time since I have updated this blog, but I feel I need to get back into it. It is a great way to keep track of my projects and what I am doing. So I went back to find any pictures I might have taken in the past year plus. It appears I have only really been working on one project since then. I did finish the lazy cat so I will have to get a picture of that.

So I have been working on Pansy Profusion.

 

 

I am working on the back-stitch now for this project and I will be very happy when it is over! This was a stamped pattern with no counting required, and I really didn’t enjoy doing it. I thought I would but I didn’t.

Next up is a short project I took camping with me and finished last week. It was a cute little stitch, wasn’t that difficult. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was working with the glitter filament. But over all I am happy with it. Not sure how to finish it, but isn’t that my problem with everything I do?

So I am hoping to get my Pansy’s finished and maybe work on a actual finish!

Sunny and Lazy

Welcome back. I have no progress to report on my lazy cat. I honestly got maybe 3 more lines done. I have been really busy enjoying my time with my husband and hope to get at some stichtching tonight while watching amovie but honelst not holding my breath. 

I thought today I would show you a pattern I did using beads. It was my first time with beads and I think it turned out really nice. I am not sure how to finish this yet so if anyone has any ideas let me have em!

I find that I have a hard time actually finishing things. I can stitch till the cows come home but when it comes to making it into something I am lost. I am not good at sewing and just can’t seem to think of any good ideas.

Well off to enjoy the sun while it lasts!

Opps missed Sunday

Progress!

Wow this week flew right by. But I am happy to show you my finished stitching for this week!

That’s right I have finished my humming birds! Las I left you I was working the half stitch. Well all done now! I was so excited to start the back stitching, it’s my favoirite part, it makes everything come to life. Here is an example.

It just looks so much better!

This project is a Christmas present so will not be finished until I start budgeting for Christmas spending and can buy the supplies. So I am sure you will see it once it’s finished.

So now what to start, well I started this Janlynn kit. I got everything sorted and it came with  a thread sorter, which is the first time I ever used one. I am now going to hunt a plastic one down as this was just paper. I got this kit for Christmas a few years back and it looks fairly simple so lets hope it comes together quickly. Here is what I got done last night after all the sorting.

Welcome… I’m glad you stopped by.

Hello, and welcome to my new blog. The other day while searching around on the internet I came across all kinds of cross-stitching blogs and because I am a cross-stitcher I thought it would be great to share my works with everyone too!

A little about myself; I am 24 married and work in a long term care facility in Nova Scotia. I am currently struggling with my health issues which can be read about here. My husband and I currently reside in my mothers basement as he is finishing school.

I started cross-stitching in Junior High school as my aunt was always working on something. I have left it and came back to it many times and my biggest challenge is finishing something, as in making it presentable.

My hope of this blog is to show off some of my works get some ideas on how to finish them off in ways other than sticking them in picture frames and just be able to share my progress with everyone. As I will only be posting on the weekends I am going to present everyone with one completed work a week and the progress on my current one.

This week I have my two very first cross-stitch works to show you;

These were given to my Father and Mother in Junior High. They were fairly simple and because I love Winni The Pooh I was motivated to finish them. 

 

 

So those were my first two works. I still have the patterns for them as well as I can’t throw them away. You never no maybe I will make them again some day. I would like to have them with out the words. also as magnets or something maybe…

So now on to my current piece. I am almost done this I am just working on the half stitch that will shade it all. Then I will be moving on to the backstitching. I really love that part as that is when everything seems to come to life!
